The following books are in my personal library. I have read them all and would like to pass on to you a review of same. I am no literary expert, but share with you my opinions as a home brewer as to the usefulness of these books.

How To Make Beer

DESIGNING GREAT BEERS - Ray Daniels Methods to calculate accurate beer making. Excellent approach
and reference to homebrewing  styles.
AN ANALYSIS OF BREWING TECHNIQUES - George/Laurie Fix Scientific information and education of beer making. Excellent text
to expand your knowledge.
NEW BREWING LAGER BEER - Gregory Noonan Complex thread focused on lager beers. Good information with new
point of view of beer making.
THE JOY OF HOME BREWING - Charlie Papazian The basic homebrewer's starting point. Fun to read and full of
excellent information.
THE HOME BREWER'S COMPANION - Charlie Papazian An extension of the first book. Not as exciting, but much data
in the form of tables and charts.
BREW WARE - Karl Lutzen & Mark Stevens A fun look at many different approaches to the equipment
of brewing using simple materials. Good ideas and innovative.

Beer Styles

SCOTCH ALE - Gregory Noonan This is number 8 in of many books in the Classis Beer series from
Brewers Publications. All these books are great. I enjoyed this
because I love Scottish Ale.
PORTER - Terry Foster This is number 5 in the series. Porter is a art form and this book
and an excellent guide.
WINNER CIRCLE - American Homebrewer's Association This is a collection of prize winning home brews. It is a good way
to learn of the great variety of beer and great flavors.
THE HOMEBREWER'S RECIPE GUIDE - Higgins/Kilgore/Hertein Another collection of invented beers by the authors. The book
is full of great beer tid-bits and historical perspectives.

Reference and General Information

THE NEW WORLD GUIDE TO BEER - Michael Jackson Words from the mouth of the world's most revered beer expert.
Any beer man worth his wort will own a Jackson book.
A CONNOISSEUR'S GUIDE TO THE WORLD OF BEER - Finch Excellent view of the beer world with wonderful pictures. I find
it a good companion to the Jackson books.
BEER BLAST - Philip Van Munching Great reading about the beer industry and battles for position
and greed to be king of the mountain of beer in America.
BEER IN AMERICA 1587 to 1840 - Gregg Smith This is a collection of stories of beer in America and a source one
find no where else. It is a little redundant in places, but good.
THE GOOD BEER GUIDE TO GREAT BRITAIN - CAMRA Society If your going to the UK, this is an useful guide if you know all the
Shires by heart.  It is indexed by Shire. The first impression is there are a lot of pubs in England. Try an ale in each.
